About this artwork
Avoiding the Void is a three-piece geometric sculpture based on an original airbrush-painting collage by Furst_Ori. The sequence shows a woman jumping across a void through three acetate prints mounted in separate welded-steel shadow frames.
The woman's figure derives from an 1887 print of a photograph by Eadweard Muybridge, whose work examined photographic motion. The print's vintage texture remains visible within the contemporary geometric collage. Each frame is welded from 6 mm steel bar, polished to an antique-silver sheen and protected with varnish. The images are protected by acrylic glass.
Natural or artificial lighting can cast shadows from the open frames onto the surrounding surface. The three sculptures may hang on a wall with the supplied hooks and wall plugs or stand on a bookshelf, desk or table. The limited-series artwork includes a certificate of authenticity and is intended only for indoor use.
