About this artwork
This architectural sculpture features a clear print derived from a vintage black-and-white photograph of the Brooklyn Bridge. The historic New York crossing was designed by John Augustus Roebling as a hybrid cable-stayed suspension bridge spanning the East River between Manhattan and Brooklyn. Opened on 24 May 1883, it was the first fixed East River crossing and the largest suspension bridge of its era.
The image is displayed in a 13 cm cubic frame welded from 6 mm steel bar. The steel is polished to an antique silver sheen and protected with varnish, while acrylic glass protects the print. At 350 g, the sculpture may hang using the supplied hooks and wall plugs or stand on a bookshelf or desk. Illumination projects a focused shadow through the transparent composition.
