About this artwork

This architectural diptych combines two transparent rose-window prints with matching cubic steel frames. The source drawings are by French architect Honoré Daumet, winner of the Prix de Rome in 1855. One image depicts a wheel window from the Château de Chantilly; the other presents the rose window of the Église Saint-Léonard de Croissy-sur-Seine.

Each approximately 13 cm cube is hand-welded and polished from 6 mm mild-steel bar. The clear prints are mounted between acrylic panels. Light passing through the structures changes their appearance and projects the geometry of the windows and frames into the surrounding space. The two-piece composition suits interior walls and architectural collections.
