Santos-Dumont Airship Illustration Metal Cube Sculpture

This aviation sculpture features an image developed from an original pen-and-airbrush ink illustration of an Alberto Santos-Dumont airship. The pioneering Brazilian aviator's dirigibles became a familiar sight above Paris at the turn of the 20th century, making the subject relevant to collectors of engineering, industrial design and early flight history.

The illustration is mounted in acrylic within an approximately 10 cm cubic frame. Welded from 6 mm steel bar and polished to an antique silver sheen, the sculpture weighs roughly 250 g. Light passing through the image casts a focused shadow and changes the relationship between the printed subject and metal structure. The supplied hook and wall plug allow wall mounting, while the cube can also stand on a desk or shelf.
